Roanoke Valley-Alleghany Region Workforce Attractiveness Index
The Roanoke Valley-Alleghany Regional Commission (RVARC) is focused on creating broad economic opportunities and promoting a high quality of life in the region. Leveraging US Census data and open data sources, coupled multiple methodologies and techniques including synthetic population and composite indicator, this project provided the RVARC, and partners with new insights into the region’s workforce to engage a variety of workers in the economic and social vibrancy of the region. Arlington Equity Project
The Community Programs Network (CPN) partners of Arlington County, VA is concerned with ensuring that Arlington remains an economically and socially diverse community. Leveraging US Census data, affordable housing information, and other publicly available data, this project provided partner organizations with a comprehensive baseline, and ten-year historical trend characterization of the renter households, apartment stock and resident mobility data. As a preliminary study, these analyses are used to inform policy on affordable housing needs and to educate Arlington County residents as to the plight of low-income rental households. Urban Fiscal Resilience
Analyze 40 years of fiscally standardized data for the 150 largest US metropolitan centers to understand the effects of urban systemic and structural parameters on fiscal response and resilience surrounding periods of external shocks (recessions).
Blacksburg Blockchain Symposium
Served as project manager for the inaugural Blacksburg Blockchain Symposium – the first dialogue among entrepreneurs, policymakers, and academics in Appalachia centered on cryptocurrency, the political economy of financial technologies, and the emerging questions, problems, and dilemmas created by blockchain technology.
